Who we are

David Stanton – Principal Landscape Ecologist (BSc Hons Class 1)

Specialisation: Tropical forest structural and floristic classification and mapping, landform classification and survey, bio-condition assessment and ecological impact assessment.

David has 17 years experience in the disciplines of impact and ecological risk assessment , resource mapping, floristic assessment and conservation planning having worked across a range of industry sectors including mining, infrastructure and as a consultant to government organisations throughout Queensland, the Northern Territory, North-Western Australia and Papua New Guinea. His particular expertise lies in tropical forest ecology including floristic and structural classification, and associated mapping of those features. During a consultancy period to the Wet Tropics Management Authority spanning 14 years in partnership with Peter Stanton, David’s comprehensive mapping of flora associations within the world heritage area greatly increased the understanding of ecological function in one of the world’s most botanically diverse regions. The culmination of this work, a series of 38 1:50 000 scale vegetation community maps and descriptive reports form the basis for regional ecosystem classification in Queensland’s Wet Tropical Bioregion. David’s professional career was initiated in the resources industry working as a regional exploration geologist in Papua New Guinea (Milne Bay Province). He has also recently completed several major landform and geological assessments on properties throughout northern Australia.

David Fell – Principal Botanist (Ass. Dip. Applied Science)

Specialisation: Vegetation survey and assessment, Threatened species survey and assessment.

David’s 27 years of experience in vegetation assessment and land resource management has been gained throughout the tropics and subtropics of Australia. He has provided professional services to all levels of government, natural resource managers, industry, private landowners, indigenous and community organisations. David has conducted vegetation surveys in Papua New Guinea, the West Kimberley Region, North Eastern Arnhem Land, throughout northern NSW, and in the Queensland Bioregions of Torres Strait, Cape York Peninsula, Wet Tropical Coast, Central Queensland Coast, Einasleigh Uplands, North west highlands, New England Tableland and South Eastern Queensland. His work in Cape York Peninsula with the Queensland National Parks Service included a comprehensive survey of the regions’ rainforest vegetation which provided a significant contribution to the knowledge of the regions rainforest ecology. His professional development has also involved working within the broader land resource and property management fields as a Project Officer with the Commonwealth Indigenous Land Corporation throughout Queensland and with Indigenous land management projects with the Cape York Land Council. Furthermore, he has been involved with numerous weed management and vegetation restoration planning projects.

David Gooding – Principal GIS Analyst (BA – GIS and Remote Sensing; Ass. Dip. Cartography)

Specialisation: Environmental, resource, demographic and business based GIS applications.

David Gooding offers 25 years experience in cartographic presentation and resource, demographic and business based GIS applications. Consultancy roles in a wide range of Government Agencies, the Mining Industry and private companies have provided experience and knowledge in the versatility of GIS applications. Practical experience developing and implementing systems with a background in survey and cartography, provides a unique blend that affords the best possibilities for geographical / spatial representation. David has worked on many and varied projects, either in a project management role or sub-consulting as part of a larger and more varied team of professionals.
