Marengo Mining – Yandera Copper/ Molybdenum Project, Madang Province Papua New Guinea:
Ecological baseline assessment of habitats impacted by the proposed Yandera porphyry copper deposit and ancillary infrastructure. The survey included assessment of the conservation significance of habitats ranging from mid-montane rainforest (2500m elevation) to primary littoral rainforest. Faunal aspects of this assessment were sub-contracted. Assessment was completed on behalf of Coffey Environments for Marengo Mining.
Kantobo to Mubi River Road Project , Southern Highlands/ Gulf Province (2010) :
A survey of significant floristic values along an 11km section of proposed road alignment. The assessment was undertaken in remote, rugged limestone terrain and concerned virgin lowland complex rainforest on the border of the Southern Highlands/ Gulf Province, Papua New Guinea. Assessment was completed on behalf of Coffey Environments for Exxon-Mobil.
Arrow Surat Gas Project Environmental Impact Assessment (2009 onging):
Ecological baseline study and residual risk assessment (Flora and Fauna) of Arrow Energy’s CSG tenements in the Surat Basin, an area of over 8000 km2. The report was prepared for Coffey Environments, the lead consultant compiling the EIS.
Torres Strait Islands Biodiversity Management Project, Queensland (TSRA, 2010 ongoing):
The project involved the identification and review of critical biodiversity values associated with seven major islands within the Torres Strait, Northern Australia. The culmination of the project will be compilation of biodiversity management profiles for the concerned islands with detailed recommendations made for the management of ecological values at both landscape and individual species scales. The project was funded through the Torres Strait Regional Authority, Commonwealth of Australia.
Torres Strait Vegetation Mapping Project, Queensland (TSRA, 2007 – 2009):
Production of 1:25 000 scale vegetation mapping and detailed floristic survey of the Torres Strait Islands including all islands from the northern tip of Cape York Peninsula to the Fly Platform in the Papua New Guinea Lowlands. The program included the survey of over 30 islands within the Torres Strait Islands local government area completed with a combination of intensive field survey and stereo-photo interpretation. The project was funded through the Torres Strait Regional Authority.
East Trinity Rehabilitation Project (2002 – 2009):
A Temporal spatial analysis of flora communities on reclaimed estuarine wetland was completed. The study utilised 1:10 000 scale aerial photographs for interpretation and provided a comparative assessment of successional terrestrial, mangrove and wetland vegetation communities. This complemented previous studies undertaken in 2002 and 2006. Contracted to DERM.
Connor’s River Dam and Pipelines Project (2007-2010):
Provision 1:20 000 scale vegetation mapping of the proposed inundation area including baseline floristic assessment. Also included detailed mapping and floristic analysis of over 200km of proposed water pipeline between the dam site and Moranbah – Brigalow Belt North Bioregion. Survey completed for Sunwater.
Solwara Project East New Britain (Coffey Natural Systems, 2008):
Baseline ecological and and cultural resource assessment of the Solwara 1 onshore project site in East New Britain Province (Papua New Guinea). The project requiredd included floristic and structural classification of the constituent forest types, assessment of habitat for endangered flora and fauna species, mapping of ecological constraints and cultural resource assessment.
Wet Tropics World Heritage Area Vegetation Mapping Project (North Eastern Australia, 1997 – 2009):
A 1: 25 000 scale aerial photographic interpretation and complementary 1:50 000 map of the vegetation communities and land systems of the Wet Tropics Bioregional Zone in northern Australia, an area of over 30 000 km2. The project required the detailed floristic and structural classification of both remnant and non- remnant vegetation communities with the wet tropics world heritage area and the completion of 38 resource management reports for various regions within the project area. During this time, expert advice was provided to the authority in regard to management aspects of the world heritage reserve. The completed mapping product forms the basis for RE mapping and assessment within the Wet Tropics Bioregion (incorporated into Version 5.2 digital RE data produced by EPA).
AGL Petronas Corporation –PNG to Queensland Gas Pipeline Project ( 2005 – 2006):
Provided botanical and landform assessments along sections of the proposed pipeline easement. Sections investigated included the landfall on Cape York to the Jardine River (Cape York Peninsula Bioregion), Weipa to Gove Laterals, Charters Towers to Muttaburra (Brigalow Belt/ Desert Uplands) and Stonehenge (Mitchell Grass Downs / Mulga Lands) to Windorah (Channel Country). The subsequent reports for these sections provided the information necessary for incorporation into a broader environmental impact assessment. Contracted to Enesar Pty Ltd.
